SCOPE OF WORK
- Design-build delivery model
- Demolished timber, concrete, and steel structures, including dolphins, wingwalls, catwalks, and portal frame components
- Designed and installed a 230 m x 45 m floating concrete berth
- Constructed a dual-level vehicle access ramp, foot passenger walkway, and maintenance access ramp
- Designed and built swing arm fender panel system with hydraulic dampers
- Drilled mooring pylons underwater to anchor the berth
- Minimized on-site activity through prefabrication of the berth

Vancouver Pile Driving (VanPile) delivered an award-winning design-build solution for Swartz Bay Berth 2 by replacing traditional deep foundations with a floating berth system. The innovative approach reduced costs and schedule impacts while allowing the terminal to remain fully operational throughout construction.
SCOPE OF WORK
- Excavated and upgraded SAR station parking lot, installed new civil and electrical connections, and repaved with asphalt
- Drilled and installed 4 abutment piles (610 mm diameter) and constructed a concrete abutment structure
- Installed 3 piles (610 mm diameter) to secure the concrete float and vehicle ramp
- Drilled and installed 12 large-diameter piles (1219 mm diameter) for the concrete float and steel wave fence
- Completed upland electrical, mechanical, and civil works, including water lines, storm drains, and service upgrades
