SCOPE OF WORK
- Installed 420 bottom-feed stone columns, each to a depth of 20 metres, using vibro-densification methods
- Treated a 3,600 m² area at the Nexen Beach foreshore to improve liquefiable soils and reduce seismic displacement risks
- Reinforced soil zone was designed to withstand horizontal ground movements from potential major earthquakes
- Performed 14 Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) and 2 geotechnical boreholes to verify subgrade conditions and column performance
- Enabled future construction of the Sales Centre by improving soil strength and stability in a sensitive coastal zone

To support the development of a proposed Sales Centre at Nexen Beach, ground improvement was required to mitigate seismic risks associated with liquefaction and lateral spreading of foreshore soils. VP Foundations was contracted to install vibro-densification stone columns as part of the soil reinforcement program along the foreshore.
