Floating Concrete Structure Construction | Vancouver Pile Driving
Floating Concrete Structures
VanPile was awarded the design-build contract for a fuel facility between Digby Island and the City of Prince Rupert, delivering two large EPS-filled concrete floats and deep rock-socketed steel piles. The project involved heavy marine construction in a remote location with challenging geotechnical conditions.
Under Canada’s $1.5 billion Oceans Protection Plan, VanPile was selected to build three new marine float modules to support Coast Guard operations and scientific research. These structures enhance marine safety and infrastructure resilience on both the B.C. Coast and Vancouver Island.
VanPile was contracted by Orca Point LLC to design, build, deliver, and install a custom L-shaped concrete float at a remote fishing lodge on Stuart Island, B.C. The new float replaced aging timber infrastructure and now supports floatplane operations, small vessels, and yacht moorage with improved safety and durability.
As part of the Vancouver Shipyards Modernization Project in North Vancouver, VanPile executed the design-build of a new load-out pier featuring an innovative concrete caisson system. The work included extensive demolition, marine ground preparation, and precision concrete construction – all delivered with minimal environmental impact and efficient site execution.
Vancouver Pile Driving (VanPile) was selected to complete key marine and upland upgrades at the Canadian Coast Guard base in Victoria, B.C. The project included the installation of a concrete float, vehicle ramp, and wave fence, along with significant civil, mechanical, and electrical improvements to support ongoing marine operations.
